Land stand-off pits farmers against bank
Irish Independent -
GARDAI intervened in a stand-off between farmers and representatives from a bank as attempts were made to repossess land.
Around 20 farmers gathered at the property, in the Templetown area of Fethard-on-Sea, Co Wexford, at noon.
They were there in support of the landowner, Peter O’Loughlin. In particular, they voiced their objection to the entrance to the land being locked with a chain.
The farmers argued that the laneway beyond the gate was a right of way and that therefore the bank “has no right to block it”.
